Australia's first full training session in the Caribbean saw all 15 squad members taking turns in the nets, flexing their power-hitting skills as they prepared for their T20 World Cup opener against Oman. Glenn Maxwell, restless and eager to start, was one of four Australian players who jumped on the team bus for the 35-minute drive to the Windward Cricket Club. Maxwell was joined by Ashton Agar, Marcus Stoinis, and Cameron Green on this optional session during a cloudy morning with intermittent showers.

Despite the weather delaying their practice, Maxwell's enthusiasm remained undeterred. After arriving late due to flight delays, he was eager to get started, especially after a lackluster IPL season. As soon as the rain stopped, Maxwell was out on the slightly tacky pitch, trying to smash the ball around. Meanwhile, Cameron Green, who arrived a day earlier, immediately showcased his power-hitting, launching balls into the wind and onto the grandstand.

Green, who endured a 38-hour journey, expressed relief as his misplaced bag with all his cricket gear arrived just in time. His impressive form from the latter half of the IPL continued, displaying strong power-base positions practiced with RCB batting coach Neil McKenzie. Green highlighted the invaluable experience from the IPL, noting how it prepared him for different roles in the tournament.

Reflecting the Australian team’s camaraderie, Ashton Agar described a moment on a catamaran where the team enjoyed a sunset together, emphasizing the unity and genuine enjoyment among the players. This togetherness was evident during their first full training session at the 3Ws Oval, where all 15 squad members participated.

During the session, Captain Mitchell Marsh faced Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc in a lively atmosphere filled with banter and admiration for each other's skills. Maxwell and Stoinis paired up with Tim David, impressing the local school students with their six-hitting prowess. Travis Head, arriving recently, also displayed his explosive form, particularly against spinners on the slow pitches.

Marsh’s return to bowling was a promising sign for the Aussies, as he prepared for their quest for a historic treble – holding all three major world trophies simultaneously. The high energy and enthusiasm in the team were palpable, with even the coaching staff and young local talents like left-arm spinner DeShawn Williams contributing to the vibrant session.

As they wrapped up, with soca music playing in the background, the Australian team’s focus was clear: to enjoy the Caribbean but also to start their World Cup campaign with the same energy they showed in training, ready to take on Oman in their opener.

The Australian squad, led by Mitchell Marsh, looks poised and united, ready to embrace the Caribbean vibe and pursue their ultimate goal of World Cup glory.
